Martini Moments… Dipped in a Little Mystique

1. It’s a good feeling when people begin to feel comfortable with one another that they start sharing intimate thoughts. But since there is no going back, I wonder if maintaining a little mystique is a better option.

2. And when people know each other so well, and for a prolonged period, I often ponder if a little mystique is not such a bad thing to maintain. Admittedly it is a lot harder to sustain.

3. There are arguments that men cannot win, not once the foot has been strategically placed in mouth, regardless of the amount of alcohol consumed.

4. Sometimes a little distance is needed to give a special person a little space to enjoy their special moments. But it takes a lot of trust to know they will not misinterpret it for lack of care.

5. A blog is like a virtual whip that you crack above your own head, making you write and maintain the momentum. You only feel the pain that the whip inflicts once you stop writing.

redleaf.jpgMartini Moments… While Dreaming of Mojitos
1. If advertising campaigns lead us to believe that beautiful, young tall slender people with shiny coiffed hair and perfect glimmering teeth are desirable then how come there are many unattractive short rotund older less than perfect people in long term happy relationships?

2. And consequently, is the reverse true? Are tall skinny shiny happy young people single and lonely?

3. Do you ever look at people and think that no matter what someone’s size or appearance, they’re still having sex? Then immediately think… ewww?

4. If 50 is the new 40 and 40 is the new 30, why are people having mid life crises in their 20s?

5. Have people become so self-focussed that by looking after no 1, friends now have a shelf life with an expiry date?

KleenexMartini Moments… Now With Coughs Sneezes and Sniffles

1. Last century they put a man on the moon. Today they still can’t eradicate the common cold but they can produce anti viral tissues that Kill 99% of Cold and Flu viruses in the tissue before they spread.

2. With the body weakened, and nothing working to alleviate the myriad of aches and pains and the “i-want-to-die” feeling, it is also that a sign that the mind needs a rest. Pity there is no shutdown button to avoid nightmares when you’re trying to sleep.

3. When intangibles become tangible, it is time to celebrate achievements, no matter how little they may seem to you.

4. Naughty dreams and mild fevers should not mix. But they do, like cough medicine and Drambuie.

5. Lively accordéon music, free red wine from 10 am, cassoulet that has been simmering overnight, elegant scarves and stylish berets with accents that make you swoon… Happy Bastille Day/quatorze juillet to anyone indulging in a little French spirit as I am would have been had I been able to get out of bed.

The Olive in the Martini: I have been promising myself for some time that I would devote considerable effort to an important project but I have not been able to commit. Therefore I have decided to take a mini break from this blog and refocus my writing efforts elsewhere. This is not long-term. I like this space too much to be gone for long so I will return soon.

Martini Moments… while Blog Navel Gazing

oh-dear.jpg

1. ^^^^ Oh Dear… A recent Google search on my domain name revealed this gem. Has Google released GMindReader and nobody told me? I’m afraid. Very afraid.

2. Being a control freak means that the transition to being Mistress of my Domain has been well worth the effort. Once you take the reins of your blog, you won’t want to relinquish them even when Google takes nearly 5 months to send traffic your way.

3. I have always maintained that for a blog to work successfully for me, it needs a resident Muse. The one that has settled down here has made himself way too comfortable and I need to kick his arse once in a while.

4. A change is like a well-needed holiday, so I’m contemplating a lighter look and feel for this place. BUT I like the red and black colour scheme that has become this site’s trademark. I wonder if a new banner pic could do the trick.

5. Whilst I’m blog navel gazing, and clearing out the lint, I’m also considering a blog name change. Could it be that I am no longer BeMused about the world?

m27.jpgMartini Moments… While Speaking Martini

1. The obvious solution to having cold feet is wrapping yourself in the comfort of warm socks but dipping your toes in cold water could yield unexpected thrills.

2. Killing an hour on Google Translate when you’ve plugged your blog’s url and got a hilarious French translation can keep you very amused for a long time. And when you start reading your reader comments in French, it’s easy to kill another hour in laughter.

3. Attempting murder on your possessed PC - now dubbed Lazarus - the one that shrugs and refuses to reboot at times, is like locking horns with the devil. You have no control over its soul if indeed it has one.

4. When things that cannot be explained bring a smile, a sudden warmth and titillating sensations, it is best to reach for the remote control and switch the thought processes off for the sake of feeling good.

5. With my milestone 100th post only 2 posts away, my ideas have gone down the way of the V shaped glass. If only Martinis could talk.
