Martini Moments… While Contemplating a Bottle of Absolut 100

absolute100.jpg 1. I have a need for a temporary new distraction, something to occupy a little spare time, but one that doesn’t involve a blog, Facebook or Twitter. I feel as if I’m suffering from a multiple personality disorder.

2. With the incessant rain, the rolling clouds and a wintry chill in the air, all I want to do is chase rainbows.

3. Seven more posts to go. For what? You may ask or you may guess. It’s been a long time since anyone has called me a tease.

4. When missing someone from our lives, be it a friend or a significant other, there’s a fine line between missing them as a person and missing what was shared together.

5. Life can be like a bottle of Absolut 100. It can gives you 100 proof alcohol but leaves a rough and rustic aftertaste.

Martini Moments… After a Martini and a Bad Pizza

1. There is a marked difference between someone who is good at what he does yet self-deprecating at times and a narcissist who just blows his own trumpet. One of them is full of hot air. Particularity evident in the realms of  personal and pro blogging.

2. It is absolutely logical to stalk change the course of one’s walk/run and follow in the footsteps of a handsome tall hunk, with slim long legs, a casual dress sense and a face that says attitude.

3. If you see an Indian dude with poor command of the English language making pizzas at a ‘genuine’ Italian pizzeria, run fast. Or you’ll paying him to get the runs. There isn’t enough Vodka in the Martinis to wash the bland taste and settle the upset stomach the day after.

4. Nothing beats getting caught in the rain during a power walk to clear the cobwebs of old thoughts. But how to get rid of the spider.

5. Revisiting an old manuscript is like remembering an old crush. One day you ask yourself what you ever saw in it. Or crush all over it again.

Cléa says:
When a gust of wind throws sand in your face, and you can’t keep your mouth shut, hold it in your mouth until you can spit it back. Don’t ever swallow.

Martini Moments… While Pushing Antibiotics with Vodka and Playing Catch Up with the Blog

mm5.JPG1. Cough Cough – Nothing like one’s body immune system to say, “Take this!” with vengeance. So this time, considering what I’ve been through of late, I’m taking it lying down.

2. Bird Sex – The birds who made my balcony their home and I recently adopted, have afforded me many chances to watch them mate. For all of three seconds. Which made me feel like a true pervert. Sadly, they disappeared for a couple of months. However, a thump against the glass revealed two chicky birds trying to fly and missed. It turned out birdie couple have been nesting and they brought back their two chickies who made themselves right at home… with the bird seed and water out in a dish for them mamma bird has been feeding her young. Ah… happy families. But what does it make me, their grandmother?!

3. End(less) Summer – Today marks the last official day of summer. Boohoo. I’m still hoping I can do my lying down (see point 1) on the sand. As soon as the sun makes a regular appearance. Otherwise, boohoo.

4. In-Tolerance – Early in the year, she phoned me for a chat and much to my surprise, she ended the conversation by apologising for imposing her beliefs on me (her words) and expressed remorse at her actions. I told her that I don’t hold grudges over a difference of opinion. We have many years of friendship behind us, and that incident won’t change it. Good people often surprise you. Pleasantly.

5. Anni-Blogi-Versaries – With over fours behind me, and just over one year since I launched the cbmused domain, I have noticed that a few long term bloggers have hung up their keyboards, some citing reasons-come-frustrations similar to my own. If one is not an avid Twitter or Facebook user, what next?

6. Death - is not contagious, nor is losing a parent or a close relative. While I understand some of my friends can’t deal with it due to circumstances, personal experience – recent or impending, running away in the other direction makes me wonder how much they really care about me and my well-being.

7. Lazarus - During my blog break, good old Lazarus finally decided to die, and I use that term loosely. Laz had been playing up of late, freezing at times, and behaving like he had multiple personalities. Then one day, the electricity suddenly went out at home. Laz had caused it when his power supply went out. Now he sits in the corner while I stroke Lappy’s keys and ponder, it is worth replacing his power supply or should I keep his soul (hard drive) and let him RIP?

Martini Moments – October Update From a Blog Break

mm4.jpg1. As soon as I announced my hiatus from the blogadrome, I became instantly aware of the amount of blog noise that floats through my brain frequently during the day. I had never realised before how much time I spend thinking of blog posts.

2. Thankfully, I’ve been successful into casting these away and concentrating on my priorities.

3. I don’t want to jinx myself by saying that my writing efforts to date have been encouraging. The word count is rising daily, and the quality of writing is not the kind that is making me cringe.

4. When the Muse decided to visit at 11.29 pm and give me one heck of a sleepless night, it was the metaphoric arse kick I desperately needed.

5. Is it my imagination or have most of you reduced your blogging activities of late?

6. Sadly, the Martinis have been scarce so far, with Margaritas surpassing them as the weather moves into the warmer phase.

7. And with warmer weather comes jaunts to the beach where many inspirations intermingle with the sand. Yet I am harnessing the inspirations from the shades of blue and turquoise into my real life writing project.

8. But I am taking the odd break to study the perfect shoulders, the rippled abs, and killer smiles.

9. David Beckham, I hate you. Thanks to your influence, every man is branding himself with an array of large and hideous tattoos, and I’m all for a clean canvas.

10. Good to see hair is making a comeback. Not every man is waxed from head to toe, that includes baldies. A bit of hair chest and a two day beard are starting to look good on some men, though anyone with hairy back or worse, a grey/white forest on their chest/back should be given a painful waxing for burning my retinas.

11. I miss you all. Not so much blogging per se, but the friendships and the regular contact we’ve had over time through my blog. There, I said it.

12. The book I’m writing would have to be the most adventurous writing project I have undertaken to date, and one I am most serious about. Anyone who knows me well understands my determination to finish it.

13. But every good project needs a time waster. Like selling your soul to Facebook after finally caving in to ‘global pressures’ to ‘join or not be updated’.

14. Doing personality tests (such as the Myer-Briggs) as one of your fictional characters is a lot of fun and a great time waster that can be classified as ‘work’.

15. 2 and 2 make 4. 2 and 2 also make 22. Twice. 2 and 2 also make 2.
