They Got Male

The first look was approached with trepidation. One doesn’t know how to react in advance or the range of feelings that would eventually surface. Either way, the emotions were already on standby.

It had been an anticipated moment yet not one that could be easily predicted. Not until that first glance, or the little stir that turns into a stretch, or the small mouth that opens into a yawn, or the tiny toes that curl then spread, or finally, the long-awaited instant when the eyes open to say hello with an accompanying smile that could not have been a grimace.

You see, aunties are allowed to believe anything they like.

When your tiny hand curled and gripped onto my little finger, you had no idea what lay ahead for you. Not only will your naughty aunty Cléa spoil you with love, she has a lot to teach you in the ways of boys and girls. And one day, she will take you aside and get you to read a certain blog, maybe a book or two, and that will certainly put a wicked smile on your angelic face.

And by the way, those strong hands and long feet, I hope they prove their potential and you get to make someone very happy indeed. Didn’t you know it was hereditary among our males? Oh… no need to blush.

Welcome to the family, baby boy.

Knowing you for a little while now I really thought this was a post about a new piece of technology.  I had to read it a second time to confirm it was more :)   Congrats all around!

It is also noted that you are already looking ahead to putting a wicked smile on an angelic face….I guess some things will never change.

GSR: Hehe… I deserved that. I admit that this post is different from my usual. In fact, it wasn’t that easy to write. Thank you for the congrats, we’re all thrilled with the new addition.

Agreed. Some things never change, nor should they! :)

I adore babies!  I want a bazillion of them!  I’m sure you will be the favorite auntie, the fun and wicked ones always are!

  4. Cléa says:

Mrs Mahd: Knowing the other aunties, I’d definitely agree with you. And he’s always got his older sibling who would gladly give me a personal reference!
Bazillion? I hope Mahd is up to this…

Babies! They are the cutest things. I love how they sleep so peacefully. I love the sound of their cries (in little doses, not full blown bloody murder crying). I love how they smile even if it’s not funny. I love them (as long as they aren’t mine). Congrats on being an aunt!

AlmostLoved: Newborns are something else. But when it’s time to change a nappy, it’s time to give them back!

Gboy: Thank you kindly for the sentiments. I’m told I make a good teacher, to younger boys… ;)
I’m having visions of him in the future reading these comments and asking who everyone is…

  12. [...] Despite a recent scare, I’m ever so grateful for having him with us. And with the recent arrival of his cuteness, and the ever charming older version, I have reasons to smile. Score = [...]
