Martini Moments – October Update From a Blog Break
1. As soon as I announced my hiatus from the blogadrome, I became instantly aware of the amount of blog noise that floats through my brain frequently during the day. I had never realised before how much time I spend thinking of blog posts.
2. Thankfully, I’ve been successful into casting these away and concentrating on my priorities.
3. I don’t want to jinx myself by saying that my writing efforts to date have been encouraging. The word count is rising daily, and the quality of writing is not the kind that is making me cringe.
4. When the Muse decided to visit at 11.29 pm and give me one heck of a sleepless night, it was the metaphoric arse kick I desperately needed.
5. Is it my imagination or have most of you reduced your blogging activities of late?
6. Sadly, the Martinis have been scarce so far, with Margaritas surpassing them as the weather moves into the warmer phase.
7. And with warmer weather comes jaunts to the beach where many inspirations intermingle with the sand. Yet I am harnessing the inspirations from the shades of blue and turquoise into my real life writing project.
8. But I am taking the odd break to study the perfect shoulders, the rippled abs, and killer smiles.
9. David Beckham, I hate you. Thanks to your influence, every man is branding himself with an array of large and hideous tattoos, and I’m all for a clean canvas.
10. Good to see hair is making a comeback. Not every man is waxed from head to toe, that includes baldies. A bit of hair chest and a two day beard are starting to look good on some men, though anyone with hairy back or worse, a grey/white forest on their chest/back should be given a painful waxing for burning my retinas.
11. I miss you all. Not so much blogging per se, but the friendships and the regular contact we’ve had over time through my blog. There, I said it.
12. The book I’m writing would have to be the most adventurous writing project I have undertaken to date, and one I am most serious about. Anyone who knows me well understands my determination to finish it.
13. But every good project needs a time waster. Like selling your soul to Facebook after finally caving in to ‘global pressures’ to ‘join or not be updated’.
14. Doing personality tests (such as the Myer-Briggs) as one of your fictional characters is a lot of fun and a great time waster that can be classified as ‘work’.
15. 2 and 2 make 4. 2 and 2 also make 22. Twice. 2 and 2 also make 2.

Woohoo!! A long awaited post!! And a long awaited comment!!
1. It’s like turning your head to someone you love to tell them your day, then realizing that they aren’t there with you.
2. Awww…
3. I know how you feel. You just want to keep writing, but cringe at the fact you know it could be better but you just can’t seem to string the right words together.
4. That’s why I stay awake for long periods of time. So that the Incan Monkey God can visit me when I’m delirious and give my muse all the inspiration it needs.
5. Most definitely. Especially with our priorities on the line.
6. I don’t even have time to drink. Should I drink? Would it make my muse more outgoing?
7. Blue and turquoise is pretty. I wish I could see that. Spring has been alternating moments of hot and cold. It’s driving me nuts and giving me a migraine.
8. Say hi to those rippled abs and killer smiles for us.
9. Why is it no one realizes that in 20 years, tattoos barbed wires will eventually melt into picket fences.
10. Some men. With a 2 day old stubble, I look like a cuban drug dealer or a wanted terrorist. Unfortunately I can’t pull it off. I have to stay relatively clean shaven here…with hair on my head of course.
11. You know what’s the scary thing? I WAS thinking of you today. I was going “Maybe I should email Cléa and ask her how she’s doing.” Can I still do that now that you’ve given us an update?
12. And how we all would want you to finish it. We have faith in you. Even in the most inspirational null moment.
13. The dark side of social networking. “Join us or be left out of the loop.” What happened to just, “Hey, can I give you a call some time?”
14. Hmmm…I should do that as one of the voices in my head. Maybe there is more than one personality trait in here somewhere. What a great idea Cléa.
15. 2 and 2 also make for some very interesting conversations. It’s worth a try if you have the chance.
Glad to see you’re still here Cléa. I was beginning to fear you forgot all about this part of the world.
Yay! A blog post! I won’t get too excited since you are still on a break, but … yay! A post!
And this comment will be all over the place.
It’s funny. As soon as I feel like blogs suck ass and all people write about are the same things, I come across a new blog that is great. That and I honestly don’t read a whole lot of blogs anymore. I’ve become very picky. I’m so glad that you are writing a lot for your book. I can’t wait to read it! I can’t stand tattoos either on a guy. I feel like they kind of lessen the value of a person. Like a brand new car that gets into an accident. But that’s just me! More power to people who like or get tattoos. And I do like the show Miami ink. Just not for me.
Miss you!!
1. That may be why i take a break, too.
5. Yes.
6. I had no idea martinis are seasonal in nature. There’s a local distillery where you can hit their tasting room and they serve you bloody marys, vodka martinis, etc. all in mason jars, and the assorted pickled peppers and stuff are all locally grown. The farmers barter them for booze.
9. I never believed in anything enough to be plastering it permanently across my back. I seriously wonder about people who do.
10. I was waiting for fur to come back in style. I’m not sure why certain women (I don’t think it was ever a majority) decided men had to look twelve with their shirt off.
Wow…to be honest, I wasn’t expecting comments since I’m not back yet. Thank you!
Kami:
1. Such is real life sometimes.
5. I think the days of blogging are numbered.
7. Gusty winds, icy rain, 14C after sweltering on 30 degree heat!
8. You do realise they belong to men!
11. That’s so nice! As I said in the previous post, I’m still available by email, though I may not reply immediately.
12. Thank you kindly.
13. Unfortunately, there are reasons to cave in at times.
15. Sounds like it’s worth the try.
I haven’t forgotten anyone and still check occasionally through Bloglines but my priority is another form of writing for the moment. Thank you for the welcome.
EM: All over the place is exactly how I feel today!
I too have felt a waning interest in blogs for some time. I think the excitement of the early days has definitely gone. Haven’t heard of Miami Ink. I just think everyone is starting to look the same when they’re supposedly trying to be different.
Miss you too!
Casey:
1. Highly recommend it.
5. I hope it’s for good reasons.
6. Sounds like a good place to visit. Anything with Vodka in it…
9. Tastes change too. Wait till these guys put on weight and start to sag.
10. It was probably the same mob who decided Brazilian waxes are the way to go and women should look pre-pubescent.
Yay!
D I still stop by a couple times a week just in case! You’re enjoying sliding into summer while I am really encouraging fall to get it’s butt in gear. Just doesn’t happen in Southern California. boo! I’m glad the project is moving along and the perving is going well!
Mrs. Mahd: Good to see you! And thanks for the encouragement and checking back on me. Nothing like gorgeous bods to fuel inspiration… I may be posting here erratically from time to time.
Gimme gimme gimme! The Bemusement hit I have been missing!!!
1. Hehe, yeah… that’ll happen. So did you fill that newly de-fragmented brain RAM with something useful? Or did you start thinking of names that sound rude (but aren’t) to use in comment replies on News Ltd. websites? No? Just me then? Oooooookay…
2. Well done!
3. I am sure you are your own harshest critic, so that’s an achievement!
4. Good work, Muse.
5. No, it’s not your imagination.
6.How can you use “Margarita” and “sad” in the same sentence? Oh wait… yes you can, as in “I was sad when the giant jug of frozen Margarita ran out”.
7. If you can work the sea in there, then it has to be good.
8. It’s been a week since I had a dose, weekend weather has not been conducive unfortunately
.
9. So how many Southern Cross tatts did you see today? FFS… *original*
10. I used to shave my legs but mercifully, those days are long gone.
“A bit of hair chest and a two day beard”
LOL… welcome to my weekend!!
11. ditto that
12. And you will, and it’ll be Martinis and Margaritas all ’round!
13. “Cléa has gone to the beach”… “Cléa is back from the beach but is thinking about going back”… “Cléa needs a drink but needs to concentrate on her book”… “Cléa saw too much man meat at the beach and is all distracted” LOL
14. Well come on then, what type are you? ISTJ? That’s my guess.
15. Hmmm.. left on a cryptic note… something to do with the date as well?
Gboy: You’ve got it now… and there may be more!
1. Such as Richard Head? Oh noooo… I prefer to lurk, point and laugh!

3. I have to take it as such, and worry about fine tuning later.
4. And I rewarded him!
5. I know you have. Sad about TWT though.
6. I use Jose Cuervo Gold in mine. But not in jugs…
7. Funny you mention that…
8. You’re into guys as well? Cool!
9. Can I say it? They remind me of livestock that have been branded… they all look the same.
10. Why shave your legs, may I ask? Cyclist?
“A bit of hair chest and a two day beard”
LOL… welcome to my weekend!!
Er… what happened to waxing that chest? Yes, I have a looong memory…
12. Hope so!
13. Actually, I hardly update my status. Remember, this is me and not an alias. I’m a novice…
14. Come on! How did you come to that conculsion?!?!?!?! And what might you be?
15. Arithmetic vs Logic. Take your pick…
Thanks for the update… glad to see you are alright. At least you have a good excuse for not blogging !
Oh… you don’t like tattoos
Sidney: Thanks for popping in
. Life is busy at present but it feels good to move forward.
And tattoos on criminals tell a different story!
I don’t blog much of late, I have other projects as well. Not a book, but stuff that just wears out my wee little mind. So I have some copy and paste and stuff but to write a post?
I started blogging just as a vent, an edit free vent, and it was fun for awhile but come winter things may slow down , and I may start posting again but for now I am just on a semi sabbatical. What I have to do the next few months is mind numbing to think about so I really need to focus on this stuff and if I do this I hope to be back to my usual nonsense.
Glad to read you are well and on course. JW
JW: Thank you for dropping in and for the sentiments. Like yourself, it seems many have slowed down, for various reasons. The beauty of the medium is in the close few who keep coming back and make us feel like we never left. I hope all is going well for you until you’re ready to return.
[...] Some time ago, I reluctantly joined FB due to pressure from extended family members. Join or be left out of updates, they said. Fine. Apparently, nobody likes to use email to communicate any more, leaving it up to one liner status changes to tell us what they’re doing in traffic and for their mobile phones to upload the latest happy snap. So I caved in and created an account under my name. [...]
