Postcard to Cléa

Guess who’s having a wonderful time?! It’s really hard work lying in the sun. The resort is very nice and my room is huge. Yes mum, I’ve been eating well.
Tomorrow I’m going on a 3 island cruise. Tried water skiing today. Not as easy as it looks. Lots of stories to tell.
Not missing you much, that’s you N. Have to go now. Aerobics is on. Enrolled in tennis lessons today.

Dear Cléa
Nothing changes, hey? Warm weather holidays, exotic settings, nice accommodation and food, and your mum still worries if you’re eating well!
Nice of you to tell them your room is huge, that’s really going to raise an eyebrow when you’ve gone on your own!!! Aerobics, sure thing…you’re about to sweat it out - squelch squelch - in your shoes, here in the heat of the tropics. As for tennis lessons, wait till you meet the tennis instructor! Know what I mean?
My advice to you, don’t waste all that time and enjoy yourself. You won’t regret it; in fact you’ll only regret the things you didn’t do.
And when you come home, and dad asks if the tennis instructor is gay, don’t blush and say noooo. He’s testing you, silly girl. Yeah, you still have a long way to go.
Love
Cléa

You’re still damn adorable even though you probably don’t send notes to your mom and dad anymore.
I really like how you highlight the fact you’re NOT missing them much. So cute.

Ahhhhh yes… that’s more like it… none of those frozen toed icicle nostrilled “winter wonderland” holidays for you!!!
Now, this enigmatic N, of whom you have never spoken before… I wonder who he… or she… may be…

Egan: Aww… chucks. I blush at the word ‘adorable’.
Not missing them, that’s was specifically for N. Nah, I didn’t miss them either!
Gboy: Oh no! I did it once and had a holiday from hell. Never again.
I should have clarified about N, I thought it was obvious. N is my sibling.

Who’d have guessed that young Cléa could be so adorable and cute.
Got to love your mother though. I can see where the sense of humour comes from. Hahaha…I wonder what happened to the tennis instructor? Did he have an unpronounceable Swedish name?

Did you take that picture yourself?
Due to the fuel crisis, I am staying close to the nest this year for Memorial Day. (Do they have Memorial Day in Seattle?)
I was thinking of an excursion down to the Motel 6 off of Exit 228 in Stockbridge.
I wish I could get my car to run on something cheaper–like champagne.

Kami: Younger Cléa was a sweetie, a little naive as well. As for mum, always worrying if I’m eating. Admittedly I used to live on air. Um… the tennis instructor wasn’t Swedish, though that was another holiday with the Swedes…
Zen: The picture is actually the postcard I had sent. and no memorial day in CleaVille, we have poor memories
Yeah! Though the idea of pouring bubbly into my fuel tank instead of my mouth seems like such a waste!

The word adorable was stolen from me. Unfortunate.
You’ve been lucky in all this traveling around.

Zen - yes, we do have Memorial Day in Seattle. Blushing is always a good thing in my book.

Casey: You really are making me blush. I think I’ll have to rename this to the ‘adorable’ post.
I do enjoy travel and the way it opens the mind to a different outlook. And of course, writing about the experiences.
Egan: I’ve been doing a lot of that lately. Younger Cléa and I haven’t changed that much.

Your dad sounds awesome. I imagine if I ever had a daughter I would want to have the same type of interactions regarding any tennis/golf/riding coaches.

GSR: My dad is a wonderful man. As for me, I wore the naivety badge rather well. And it still makes an appearance every so often.
