I float into gradual awareness, my senses slowly attuning to my surrounds. A thin strip of light escapes from behind the curtain, casting light and shadows on a usually dark corner. I breathe in the quietude. My skin tingles with the cool morning air.

The alarm clock displays a later hour. I pull the covers over me and sink deeper into the comforts of the bed. Another hour of slumber. Another hour of dreams.

    Spring forward. Fall back.

Another hour of lazing around in bed until you realize a day like this is too good to be wasted lazing around in bed. :)

  2. Mahd says:

My own weekends tend to occur like so:
6:30am: The cat decides to parade up and down the length of my body because it’s time for her breakfast
7:03am: What day is it? Do I have to get up for work? Oh thank God it’s still the weekend.
8:23am: Nature is calling, but the bed is so warm. The light peeks through the blinds
10:12am: The neighbor has decided that the construction project he’s working on needs musical accompaniment. Cars are racing up and down the street outside and I think my wife has buried her knee in my back. Time to get up…

Well I work tomorrow and I love the idea of sleeping in, but then if I may borrow from Poe

Take this kiss upon the brow!
And, in parting from you now,
    Thus much let me avow
You are not wrong, who deem
    That my days have been a dream;
Yet if hope has flown away
In a night, or in a day,
In a vision, or in none,
Is it therefore the less gone?
All that we see or seem
Is but a dream within a dream.

Something like that…I go bed now

This e-mail really made me stop and hesitate. I suggest some coffee, a good book, and a good diet of relaxation and rest.

    I love Sundays.

  5. Casey says:

The easy Sunday hours of sleep are the best. It’s hard not to love them.

  6. Cléa says:

Kami: Nah! I enjoy lazy :)

    Mahd:
6.30 am - Such poetry… ‘parading up and down the length of my body’, for a cat! :)
    7.03 am - Me too!
8.23 am - And the verdict?
10.12 am - Knee in back for wife, and cat parading body, something not quite right there… :P

JW: I hope you’re getting some R&R, sounds like too much work for you of late.
I liked the dream within a dream… that sets my imagination going.

Justin: Nice to see you again. Email? You’ve lost me there…
I love lazy Sundays. Another coffee and relaxation sound like a good idea. I’ll go make one now…

Casey: Especially when you’ve made no plans and can just relax and chill out. Or get back to bed…

  7. Justin says:

Sometimes I comment while drunk. When that happens I say things that don’t always add up. E-mail? Post? Post is what I was looking for. Please try not to judge me too much.

  8. Cléa says:

Justin: In between my replies, I’ve made myself a coffee. Sounds like I should have offered you one. Or you should have offered me something stronger.
Moderated drunken comment has been approved. Maybe you should get yourself a blog and write a drunken post :P

  9. Justin says:

If I had a blog for my drunken comments I might lose your respect. There is some chance it would be embarrassing.

  10. Cléa says:

Justin: Let me be the judge … but imagine the comments! :)

  11. mez says:

the extra hour this morning was bliss. I wish I could add an hour every weekend :)

  12. gboy says:

But think of all the things you could have done with that extra bonus hour, Cléa - a morning jog along the beach, or a double Mocha Latté and a perusal of the paper, or even completed one overdue BAS statement! Hmmm… come to think of it, all sounds like hard work. Slumber on! :)

  13. Cléa says:

Mez: Agree! I could have done with it today, 6 am start was just too much…

Gboy: How about hugging my teddy instead and going back to sleep? That BAS thingy sounds like a dirty word!

  14. Simon Sterwin says:

Ahh…a splendid evocation of the sleepy pleasures of a Sunday morning.

  15. Cléa says:

Simon: Beautifully said with ’sleepy pleasures’.
