Mistress of the Domain

“You’ve got to do it…”
“It’s soooooooo much better.”
“You’ll have total control. Mistress of your own domain.” Pause. “You like that, don’t you?”
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
With this inaugural post, and more importantly with this cocktail party, I’m launching cbmused.com. My name is Cléa and I’d like to welcome you to the new site.
Like any party to celebrate a major release, there’s always booze to keep one entertained while yawning during speeches. But before I get too sloshed on Martinis, Margaritas and Mojitos (and end up spilling secrets) let me give due credits, starting with those who gave me the idea to move WordPress, because it can do “things” for you.
cbmused.com wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for the unselfish efforts and patience of people across different time zones who kindly volunteered to help make it happen. Sounds clichéd? Not when you consider the logistics. In particular those who, among other things, have lent me more than just their time to help me build this site, test it, and put up with my questions and panic moments. Guys, you are legends!
Everyone, please help yourselves to a drink of your choice as the music plays and you look around. There’s Champagne, cocktails, a selection of wines, spirits, single malt aged whiskeys, and for those of you who prefer beer, I have some icy cold Belgian Hoegaarden, imported Heineken, Corona with fresh lime, Guinness for the lads, only to name a few. Nibbles and canapés are on their way.
Today I’m breaking away from my Martini tradition and raising a Margarita as my first toast to cbmused.com.
Cheers! Santé! Cin Cin!
Now… What would you like to drink?

I’m so excited. A party!! I’ll start out with a virgin screw driver. . . . . it’s 7:24 am here. . . . Let me get past 9:00 before you start getting me drunk. After breakfast I may have to visit the Ho Garden though. What? Not what i think it is? Yes, that’s what I was thinking. Beer? Really? With a name like. . . . . Oh, yea yea yea! I’ve had that. Pretty good too. Maybe after breakfast. A little OJ and some coffee for now though.
Saints Coffee if you’ve got it. What? Fair trade, organic, micro roasted. . . . . proceeds go to feed orphans. . . . . I will have to send you some. You can find it online though. It is the best coffee ever. Let me go brew up a pot. I’ll be back in a second.

Hello Clea.
First allow me to compliment you on the nice looking location. Very nice.
Second - I will take a Hoegaarden please. And Cheers! to you.
Third - You will have to teach me how to add the accent mark above the “e” in your name. I have no idea how to do that.

I’m going to sit in the corner with my beer and observe everyone. I do like the beer selection and your guests seem like lovely people.
P.S. I love that my word verification is “dine”.

This teetotal gorilla will have a banana milkshake. Good luck in the new domain!
February 1st, 2008 at 8:14 am
I’ll have a Roy Rogers.
Easy on the grenadine; I’m trying to cut back.

Helloooo! We have ourselves a little party here!
Spaceman Spiff: Hello and welcome Mr Speedy Gonzales!
Spaceman Spiff: may I call you Spiff or Spiffy? It’s early am too and I’ll have a Bloody Mary to your virgin screwdriver. Cheers! Skip the breakfast… or the Ho, whichever it is… But if you want coffee, I can recommend an Irish coffee, made by an Irishman, one taste, and you’re hooked!
Saints coffee? You mean not the Kopi Luwak that is excreted by some cat http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kopi_Luwak for which you pay through the nose?
Hello Armie! W00t indeed!
Let me guess, a vodka for you?
Hello GSR!
First, you’re too kind. It took a lot of effort to get here but it’s been a labour of love.
Second, on its way, and more in the fridge where that came from.
Third, do what I do, and… cheat! Copy and paste from the About Bemused section, top right corner. (and you thought I was going to say something clever!)
You must be due for another drink. More beer?
Egan: dine away while you observe, and lovely to have you here!
Mr Bananas: coming right up, smooooth with a little froth! Preferably with bananas from Congo?
ZW a grenadini for you! I can’t temp you with a drop of vodka in it?

Welcome to the great world of having your own domain
Now… where is the bar?
February 1st, 2008 at 10:12 am
Invader_Stu: Thank you :). I feel as if I just joined a club I didn’t even know existed!
Come with me. Er… ok, so I’m a little tipsy….
February 1st, 2008 at 10:22 am
I’d like a margarita, salt, frozen, and Patron Silver. Thank you.

So here is to a new place. Where some things never change and some things…well…are always so alien to us until a couple of months down the road when you know the right way to jiggle the handle so that the door opens properly. I look forward to jiggling that handle the right way at the right time.
In the mean time, I’ll help myself to any bourbon if you’ve got it. A bit parched over here.
February 1st, 2008 at 10:50 am
Congrats!
Hoegaarden for me, of course!
Well, let’s enjoy the party.
February 1st, 2008 at 11:04 am
Trée: hello and welcome! I’m a big fan of frozen margaritas… I may join you in another one :).
Kamigoroshi: thank you and welcome to the party!
May I say, my brain is jiggling at the moment so I hope I’m being coherent on my feet. But I hear Bourbon… of course! Only tried it once… neat, an acquired taste!
Sidney: hello and thank you! A Hoegaarden , of course :). Did you bring your camera for a group shot? I forget to charge my batteries…

I made it!
Does everyone eventually jump the blogger ship and swim to wordpress island? Just wondering …
February 1st, 2008 at 2:18 pm
Airam: The Champagne is chilling nicely, waiting for you!
Looks like it, or is it after the pirates have arrived that everyone jumps ship. Don’t mind me… to many Margaritas!
February 1st, 2008 at 6:26 pm
Whoooooaaaa!!!! Look at this place!!!!!
Well, what can I say… impressed much! Looks like you have put a lot of effort in, and I gotta say this somehow has a more “grown up” feel than most blogger blogs have. So now you really are a Mistress of the domain… the top level domain no less!
Anyway well done Cléa… I shall hog the comment corner no longer :). Hey any of those frogaritas left? That first Corona didn’t even touch the sides!!
February 1st, 2008 at 6:56 pm
GBoy: If I may say so, I like this name more than GB!
Thank you kindly! It was a labour of love but the credit isn’t all mine, I did have good help. Yes, I’m learning about the ‘dark side club’ and mastering a few domains ;).
Of course! I’m making another batch. Ooops, too much Tequila went in…
February 1st, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Mojito’s? One of my newest favourites - thankyou so much!
Sorry I’m late - love the new digs :o)

That is really searching for some “delicacy” there. I’m sorry, but I don’t want to drink a batch of cat feces brewed up no matter how much they spin it. Then again, I don’t want to eat or drink anything that has already been eaten and defecated. Decafated? Is that how they do it? I always thought they water rinsed the unroasted bean to leach out the caffeine. I guess that’s an urban myth.
You may call me whatever best comes across your keyboard, Clea. Spiffy is the accepted norm. Spaceman occassionally. And A%$#@le more often than I care to hear.
February 2nd, 2008 at 9:20 am
Enny: mine too! Such a refreshing summer drink that goes down easily, until it hits you eventually. Hic!
Thank you! Good to have you here :).
Spiffy: Sounds nicer than Space-Man (I expect to do a V sign here…) and A%$#@le is too difficult to type!
I’ve never tried it, but it has been mentioned to me a few times. Not sure I’d want to go there. But if you’re into organic stuff, no… let’s not go there!
More Ho Garden??
February 3rd, 2008 at 5:33 pm
lovely space you’ve got here
Now…pass the gimlets!
February 3rd, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Mez: hello hello! Why thank you :).
Here you go. I’m about to down a couple myself! Haven’t stopped all weekend
