She looked very much a blogger I know. And by that I mean one who has posted a photo or two on a blog I read. It has been a while since we properly “caught up”. So it was just a matter of time before we discussed the latest interests and hobbies.

I studied her face intently, as it has been a while, and compared her features to that of the blogger’s partially hidden head shots. Possibly… Maybe…Then for a moment, I dismissed the possibility. I knew her not to be as eloquent with the written word.

“So what is taking up your time of late?” I asked as we ordered another glass of red wine.

She gave me a hesitant look and quietly said, “Writing.”

My mind flashed with possibilities. Could my friend be the blogger in question?

I confess to a lingering doubt until she professed in an almost apologetic tone, “I’m into poetry”. She explained that she was not very good with words but used her writing as a therapeutic journey of self discovery.

I smiled and gave her encouragement to continue. Yet I never would have thought she would choose poetry. Erotic writing would have made a lot more sense.

So I had her penned as the erotic writer. But would I tell her?

Definitely… maybe…

It’s not a bad hobby provided you don’t automatically expect others to appreciate it.

  2. Sidney says:

Well erotic writings are not a bad hobby either and probably much more appreciated by the general public.

One day I should include you in my links and kick some non updated blogs out of my blogroll… but I am so sentimental! ;-)

G Bananas: it takes a special writer to excel in that genre. It’s such a personal taste with the choice of words and subjects covered etc. Not that different from some poetry…

Sidney: it would have made interesting conversation had she been the one.

That’s lovely of you, thank you :). And I understand sentimentality all too well!

So let me get this straight - You spend your free time drinking martinis and reading erotic blogs?

Words may not be able to describe the amount of admiration and respect I have for you ;)

  5. M says:

well, maybe it was her but just that you had read her differently to what she really was. Sometimes people project a completely different image on their blog - or not even that, I’m not suggesting that she’s in any way insincere - they might just highlight one aspect of their personality in their blog but that there are other facets of their personality that their readers just don’t consider.

    Did you say “are you….?”

  6. Bemused says:

GSR: well, I don’t sip Martinis while I read… do I lose points?

Oh really! That halo of yours is fading very quickly… ;)

M: I gave it a lot of thought, and had she been the one, I would have been surprised at her writing abilities and not the erotic writing itself.

I didn’t ask outright, but I mentioned ‘the internet and stuff’ to gauge a reaction, and she said she doesn’t even have a PC or access to the internet. That I would believe. Yet, stranger things have been known to happen…

  7. Airam says:

Ha to GSR’s comment! It doesn’t take much to impress him, huh?

    :P

  8. Bemused says:

Airam: dare I say, well, he is a man… :P

    LOL at comments ;)

Hey I heard that if two anon bloggers met IRL they both simultaneously explode, leaving no trace that they ever existed!

Therefore she couldn’t possibly have been the blogger you know!!

  10. Bemused says:

GB: you liked that too?? ;)

I love this! :) Sounds to me like GB is talking from experience. You’re right, she couldn’t be the one because I didn’t reveal to her that I had a blog, in fear of the universe collapsing!
