A Slippery Fairy Tale

Once upon a time, under a blazing summer sun, a mysterious figure washed ashore. She emerged from turquoise waters like a mythical creature barely clad in rags, and shook the droplets out of her flowing hair. She gazed down at her wet feet. Shapes and curves suddenly appeared and a silhouette was drawn on the golden sand.

The figure took tiny footsteps along the shore. She built a humble home among elaborate sand castles, and welcomed the daily ebb and flow that the sea had brought her way. In time, her haunting melody drew a crowd not unlike a siren’s song.

But the turning of the tide forewarned of an imminent change. It signalled time to leave the sea, to look back at the last footsteps as they fade with the next wave, to walk on dry sand towards uncharted lands and city lights.

The figure looked back, once, then twice. Bemused… this is where shadows come to light.

I really enjoyed your post! Kind of like the birth of Venus only there’s no shell. Or maybe there is a shell? The figure emerged from water and that’s where shells live. Ok I’m rambling.

Airam: that’s quite a fitting comparison to Venus. I like it very muck. And welcome to my first post :) .

I hope you don’t mind my saying, but any post that uses the words “shapes and curves” is a winner in my book.

Welcome to the blogosphere, and nice job on your banner/picture. I’ve yet to figure out how to get rid of my “blogger assigned” header and I’ve been at this for over a year.

Exhale, love the look of this blog and the direction. You make the beach sound even better than it is. A beach in a city landscape, what a cool city you have.

Grad School Reject: thank you for the welcome. I wanted a personal touch to the banner, its own welcome if you like. As for “shapes and curves”, I’m pleased my first post has made a small impact :) .

Egan: thanks for the compliment on the look and feel. I hope you enjoy your visit :) .
